UJP PRAHA Welcomed Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis

On 1 June 2026, UJP PRAHA had the honour of welcoming Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Economy and Productivity; Implementation and Simplification, to its headquarters in Prague–Zbraslav as part of his official visit to the Czech Republic.

The main purpose of the visit was to present the progress of the IPCEI ME/CT – New Radiation-Hardened Microelectronic Technologies project, coordinated by UJP PRAHA. The European Commission was particularly interested in the project's tangible technological achievements and the progress achieved in implementing one of Europe's strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the semiconductor value chain and enhancing the European Union's technological sovereignty.

The programme included presentations by the project partners – UJP PRAHA, evolving systems consulting s.r.o., ON Semiconductor Czech Republic and the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague – followed by a guided tour of UJP PRAHA's laboratories, where the delegation was introduced to the latest developments and practical demonstrations of the technologies under development.

In addition to representatives of the European Commission, the visit was attended by representatives of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, CzechInvest and the Prague–Zbraslav Municipal District.

We highly appreciate the European Commission's interest in our project. The visit of Executive Vice-President Dombrovskis represents an important recognition of the work carried out by the entire consortium and confirms that Czech companies and research institutions are making a significant contribution to Europe's technological leadership in advanced microelectronics.

UJP PRAHA would like to thank all distinguished guests and project partners for their participation and continued support. We believe that our joint efforts will further strengthen Europe's microelectronics ecosystem and contribute to the competitiveness and technological resilience of both the Czech Republic and the European Union.
